The Dinner Party: Part 2 of 3: Kids' table

I guess it was a grown ups only dinner party, but with vampires that's a muddled sort of line. Sure they look like teenagers (not really, in the case of Stefan), but they're not. I guess if everyone is working hard to fool Jenna, then we'll pretend these are the folks who belong at the kiddie table.

Let's start with our newest couple in Mystic Falls: Bonnie and Jeremy. Bonnie was delightfully clueless when Jeremy said he couldn't stop thinking about the previous night. He was all teenager in love and she was all Sabrina the teenage witch. At least she's got cute outerwear. If only we could have seen more of it.

I was going to comment on how she and Elena have an impressive collection of basic pieces for layering, but on closer inspection, her top turned out to be loose and flowy. Apparently you can't be a witch without loose and flowy clothing.

The men in Bonnie's life all seem to be working off of the same colour palatte. Although, at least Luka tries to bring in some colour with his hoodie. It shows he's doing more than grabbing his basic hoodies in bulk from American Apparel.

Luka's witch daddy doesn't even bother to try colour. In fact, he probably borrowed the sweater from the Rufus Humphrey section of the CW wardrobe department:

To the untrained eye, Jeremy's next two outfits look exactly the same.

Of course, to fashion experts such as ourselves, we totally see the difference: subtle v neck gone, add waffle knit.  If I were actually a fashion expert, I might try to tell Jeremy to try harder if he's trying to convince Bonnie to like him. I will give him props for the nicely fitted trousers.

My guess is that most teenaged boys don't think about how their trousers fit, so maybe he is trying.

I am wondering if Jeremy's waffle knit as a date night shirt has been influenced by Elena and Stefan. That couple loves their waffle knits.

Unfortunately, what you can't see is her kick ass motorcycle boots. She spent most of the episode curled up on the couch and not showing off her boots. On the other hand, she did show off her skills at layering basics.

Girl has mad skills when it comes to layering. She takes that basic daytime look into a laid back nightime look for when she adds a long boyfriend style cardigan. Perfect for when she needs to stab herself in the stomach to convince Elijah she's not bluffing. I wouldn't recommend playing poker with this girl.

You can tell that Elena and Stefan are Totally In Love because they dress the same. They've got his and her waffle knits going on. The part of me that misses layering with thermal underwear in the 90s almost enjoys this.

Well, I almost miss it. There's little Stefan can do to make me excited about anything. I don't want to get all Gilmore Girlsy on you, but this guy is totally a Dean and that was just a snoozefest of a relationship in my books. Can we stop with the declaring of True Love and move on to something, or someone, more exciting? Someone who'll wear more than plain hoodies?

At least he does try to mix it up with his leather jacket and goes for brown instead of the black that everyone else in town owns.

Crying Wolf: Part 2 of 2 - The Gents

The boys? Not impressive. To be honest, it wasn't a very shocking episode overall as far as wardrobe goes. But fair's fair.

Okay, so at the town tea party, Elijah is scoping everybody out with a regular suit on and the same mid-to-late-1990's haircut he showed up in. (I disagree with Alaric's later statement about "great hair.")

Speaking of Alaric, he continues to dress like a would-be mountain man, scruff included, but I just had to include this picture of how disastrously upset he looks to be sipping tea out of the Royal Dalton 'Old Country Roses' Fine China Collection at a society event. (Look, my mom has that tea set. It's gorgeous. But Alaric's face is priceless.)

Luka, when cornered by Bonnie at the Grill, looks about as fashionable as any of the other dudes on the show, with what looks like it SHOULD be a leather jacket, but is actually just a canvas jacket of some kind and a graphic tee underneath. Again, not much color.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... I mean lake house... Elena and Stefan play dress up in Mom and Dad's closet, and Stefan dons a vintage flannel coat from Elena's grampa. It's red and plaid. But he does look pretty great.

At least the jacket has some texture, some life to it. Better than his bland red zip-up hoodie from earlier. Blah.

Blah. Maybe he was getting into the deep reds to show his lurve for Elena, who also enjoys dark rouge and crimson?

I don't have much to say about the wolf pack, but this needs to be said. This wolf guy (whose name escapes me!) gives everybody attitude the whole episode, and then later jumps on Damon from the ceiling and stabs him in the neck with a syringe... but he spends the entire show wearing a gray brimmed beanie cap. What? Did he have a skater boy phase before going lycan? So random.

Aaaaaand here he is, the man of the hour: Tyler. The whole episode is centered on him making choices between his new wolfy family and his childhood friends. Moral decisions! Life altering questions! All choices made while wearing a leather jacket. Hooray! But he looks fabulous, no? And the white shirt underneath gives him a kind of good-versus-evil-internal-struggle look. Also, he's matching Elena, who ends up being the friend he chooses to help save. Aww.
