Screening Room: The Scotch-Soaked 60s - #4 - Ich Bin Ein Berliner

This week's episodes
Pan Am - "Ich Bin Ein Berliner" (So, I put this as the post title for giggles, and then discovered that's what the episode was actually called. Whoops.)
Playboy - No mas. The bunnies got the ax last week.
This is my first episode of Pan Am, so I’ve gotta say: these girls are friggin’ talented at A) creating perfect coiffures, and B) creating perfect – and I mean INSANE – eyeliner. Is this what one learns in stewardess school?
Anyway, the gals and their eyeliner are off to Berlin to see everybody’s favorite hunky President (Kennedy, y’all!) give a speech about the Wall and countries uniting and all that political sentiment. Maggie is determined to meet him while they’re there, and spends the NYC-Berlin flight networking with journalists in an attempt to get access to the press events. She makes friends with Mike, who writes for the Village Voice and wears a cool tie.
As I said before, the guys pretty much are all on the same level, except for cool Mike's cool tie, and pilot Ted, who spiffs it up a bit with a Colonel Mustard kinda combo when he and some of the girls head out to see Kennedy's speech. I didn't think I'd like it, but I kinda do.
I would like to give a moment to our girl Maggie's gorgeous day-out-on-the-town dress, which she pairs with black slingbacks and matching gloves. Like, dang girl!
Here's her Happy Face, when Kennedy waves at her after receiving her cigar present. (Personally I was crossing my fingers for a hot Kennedy lookalike to appear, but we only saw his silhouette. Dangit!)
So, am I the only one confused about Kate being a spy? She strikes me as the character least capable of being a spy. She does look good in green though.
However, I would like to note that when in uniform, the Pan Am ladies favor a wash of shimmery pale sea green eyeshadow. Doesn't this seem like it would be against the uniform code?
Kate's Barbie-perfect sister Laura, however, is either not wearing the green shimmer, or is disguising it behind ridiculously perfect liner and lashes. 
And she looks totally gorgeous when she and Maggie are heading to the speech with Ted (so gorgeous in fact that Ted tries to kiss her -- OOPS!). 
Kate's new German friend -- we'll call her Greta, since that's what Kate called her at some point, although I don't recall her real name, if it was ever given -- is really cute, despite her gruff German exterior attitude and terrified spy courier subtext.
She even looks fierce in a borrowed Pan Am uniform... proof perhaps that the silly hats and solid blue actually transforms women into glamazons? Seriously, look at her hair!
Last but not least is everyone's favorite French gal, Colette. Being in Germany is tough stuff for a girl whose childhood was dictated by the Nazi occupation. Yikes. Still, she puts on a brave face (mostly) and looks gorgeous and super French while doing it. I love the brown gloves, cream dress, pink belt and pink brooch. So understated and so gorgeous. (And that EYELINER!)
Now that I've had my first flight with the Pan Am gals, I'm looking forward to next week's venture... and to seeing if we will get a tutorial on perfecting the winged liner look. Fingers crossed!

OMG - the one dress I have been trawling the web for all morning is THE ONLY dress you don't have - and definitley the best of the whole episode. When Kate is talking with the secret agent in the park she is wearing a black dress with white trim. PLease please please tell me you have a photo of it?
We don't, but maybe we can get a screencap of it. Are Pan Am episodes blocked online in Australia?
