For Whom the Bells Toll - Part 1 of 3 - The (perceived) Liars

Steph Au - Staff Writer Episode Synopsis:They say with information, comes power. This certainly rang true for our Pretty Little Liars this episode. Armed with the USB they found in Ali's old lunch box, they watch the videos (which they later regret), confront Jenna about what they saw (which is a situation Jenna regrets), and decide to confront Ian as well (which they really, really regret). However, Jenna warns Ian, which confirms they're working together. Oh and Jenna's also working with Garrett! Will this show ever run out of twists? Ian corners Spencer in a church (why did you run up the stairs, Spence, why?!), proceeds to almost kill her, before a figure in black (A??) pushes him off the platform instead…only when the police arrive, Ian's body is nowhere to be found…
In other news, Spencer and Toby are adorable, Lucas is adorable and brings adorable Caleb back to Rosewood, and Ezra is adorably apologetic when his ex-fiancée, Jackie, shows up. Melissa and Spencer get into an "accident", and the fate of Melissa's unborn child is unknown.
Oh, and Emily may move to Texas. I'm guessing Pam will want to move to Texas even more after this fiasco.
Love the loose, drape-y, striped sweater Aria's wearing. I swear, the loungewear on this show is beyond enviable.

I love this outfit. In theory. Dark skinny jeans paired with ankle boots, striped sweater, and a statement necklace? Her bag is fantastic as well. But those dark skinny jeans? Yeah, they're actually leather leggings (clearer in the first scene with Ella and Byron). That striped sweater? It's still lovely, but it has the oddest hair (fur?) bits on the shoulders. At first, I thought they were wayward pieces of hair…nope, they're a part of the sweater. And those ankle boots are actually plaid, yikes.
But the necklace is still gorgeous! Love the chunky pieces and the combination of colors.

A slim-fit scooped back teal dress with black lace overlay. Sounds like another winner, right? If only the lace didn't extend past the shorter teal underlay. But I can understand Aria's reasoning behind it. It's sexy, but subtly so (thanks to the length), and perfect for the faculty mixer where her teacher-slash-boyfriend is present.

I do like her simple black coat and the gold chain on her purse - but the real star? Those brooches! Love, love, love.

A little confused on when Aria had a chance to change from her prior outfit to this one…continuity mistake, perhaps? But I do like her printed scarf and grey knit cardigan.

Emily's outfits were more boring than usual this episode. Plain, monotonous henley? Yawn.

Burgundy top and jeans. But is that a hole in her shirt sleeve? Eek! Love the purse, though.

I wish we'd gotten a clearer look at this sweater…if only because I'm pretty sure there's some sparkly thread woven in. What can I say, I do love me some sparkles…

Scruffy Hanna! Complete with loose sweater, leggings as pants (sigh), knee-high socks and - the bane of shoe-lovers everywhere - Uggs.
It's okay, Hanna. Your mother gives good pep-talks and Lucas brings Caleb back (which was incredibly sweet, if I may say so).

Though her mother told her to wear a dress, I love this option as well. Those may be leggings as pants. They may be dark skinny jeans. For my sanity's sake, let's pretend they're the latter. Because the sheer, polka-dotted top with exposed tie-back and shoulder slits? There's so much going on, yet it's simple and adorable. Great chunky necklace as well!

Dark olive green fabulousness. I love the cut, the off-center buttons, the buttons themselves, and the pockets…perfect.

Spencer's preppy loungewear is another ode to the wardrobe department's amazing taste. Cuffed boyfriend jeans, burgundy sweater, checkered shirt, so perfect.

I am not a fan of the plaid shirt and too-long sleeves combo. Nor do I like the leggings as pants (again, sigh) and combat boots (she must have borrowed them from Toby?) combo. But the overall look just works on Spencer. Somehow. It could be the belt, which has a lovely industrial-esque quality to it.

Three-quarter sleeved loose trench? Love. Not when it becomes three layers of sleeves though…

The only male character on the show wearing something interesting! Pale blue button-up, but it's got zippers and shoulder lapels! And interesting pocket detail!
(Apologies for the excess of exclamation marks… it's not every day a male character wears something at least mildly interesting. Plus, I kind of love Toby after seeing this whole Toby/Spencer relationship.)
