Monsters in the End - Part 1 of 3 - Emily, Hanna and Ashley

Episode synopsis: What didn't happen this episode?! So many juicy details finally came out! Let's start with Caleb basically professing his love to Hanna but Mona takes a turn for the "even bitchier friend" route, which leads Hanna to let Caleb bus it to another state. Aria becomes convinced Ezra is living a triple life (let's be real, Aria--did you really think that puppy-dog face could lead THREE secret lives?!). Emily can't deal with Paige's rudeness and inability to have a real relationship--which leads to a potential new lady hottie for Emily. And then there's Spencer: she is stalked by the "police", prohibited from seeing Toby, and locked in a fun house by Ian. Well that part is unconfirmed, but he is the who found her and makes sense, right?!

Sidenotes: 1) I couldn't come up with any clever names for each section this week, so we're stuck with just their names--however, it may serve as a friendly reminder to prep for next week's FINALE! How did it come so fast?? 2) Melissa will missing from this recap, because NOTHING she wore was exciting or interesting; thus, she is omitted.

Emily wins Most Improved Dresser this week, although this first shot doesn't represent that. It's classic Emily: a loose, heathered tee with jeans (I'm assuming). I'm so into that army-ish green color lately, so this doesn't bother me one bit!

Now here's my M.I.D.! Love the leather jacket, love the chunky scarf, and love the satiny/silky tee. Casual but chic and oh-so-perfect for a day of school.

And when you see her with the jacket off, we do see that it is her usual tee (where does she find all these variations??).

I'm beginning to think any outfit with a leather jacket on top makes me like it. Oh well, I can't help it! It gives everything an edgy yet polished feel.

Not anything special, but I mean really, what else would one wear waiting for text messages while seating on your windowseat. Awesome boots, that's what. Lace-up with a little fur lining--too bad the weather is finally warming up otherwise I would be all over those.

This color is GORGEOUS on Hanna and the gold jewelry is the perfect accent.

This was my favorite outfit of the week. Hanna looked so sophisticated while confronting Caleb about Jenna's motives. My only wish for this outfit is if she had worn leather boots, or even a riding boot, the ones she has on look like suede...kinda kills the sophistication a bit.

Just to reiterate how much I love this top. Black and white, and stripes, just a classic combo.

This looks...warm? That's about the nicest thing I can say about this sweater. It's like Hanna tried to mesh Aria and Spencer together: cropped sweaters with ugly sweaters.

::phew:: Much better. Although maybe a little fancy for a festival? But then that would not be our Hanna.

Here's what she had on underneath...I still can't quite tell exactly what it is. Lace bodysuit under v-neck, perhaps? ;)

Last week, Anthony made note that Ashley is a "danger cat." I believe this tight black and belted dress fits the bill.

FINALLY! Some color on Ashley--the green and teal look fab on her. But what this shirt is exactly is not so fab. Is it a scarf? A cowl neck?

It's official. Throw on a leather jacket and you're a winner in my book.

Monsters in the End - Part 2 of 3 - Aria, Ella, Spencer and Veronica

It seems strange that Aria is wearing something SO simple. She is not one to be afraid of piling on the accessories, prints, layers etc., but the embellishment on the neckline is spot on.

Ok, back to the Aria we know and love, although...not so much love for this outfit. At first glance, it's fine. But upon closer inspection, there is way too much going on. The belt looks too busy with the military-style buttons on the jacket AND then on top of a shirt that has a small ruffle AND that is made of two kinds of fabric...? Just wait for it...

A dual-printed maxi skirt WITH leather boots! Her bottom half is off to Little House on the Prairie, while her top half is just plain confused as to where it's going.

Cute, comfy, simply can't go wrong with a slouchy knit and scarf.

I haven't come to consensus about this lengthy, feather earring (or is it attached to her hair?). I'm just insanely jealous of that super cute laptop skin.

This one is a little hard to see but it was the best shot I could get of Aria's boots and coat together. We've seen the boots on her before and I NEED them. So badass...and paired with that puffer--I'm ready to hit a mountain town for a little vaca.

I added Ella in here because I love her boots--so hip for a teacher. Her pants look a little bunched above the boots, but that's just me being picky. Also, her face in this screencap? Priceless!

Spencer found the three most ugliest sweaters on the planet and wore all in one episode. I guess this first one isn't too bad, but c'mon, you're like 16 or 17 years old. STOP shopping in your grandma's closet!

Ditto above comment.

This is the worst one. The color is blah, the cable knit with the shawl collar and tighter-fitting bodice is just wrong. Then please notice the cuffs of her sleeves. Did Spencer get bored at home and have a DIY craft day? Those cuffs look completely out of place!

Totally appropriate for setting up booths at a festival.

Spencer redeems herself (slightly) with this ivory jacket. The perfect transition piece from winter to spring. Yet another item on my wish list ::sigh::

I just love when we compare the mother's wardrobes. Each one has her own style (although Ella seems to get lost sometimes) but Veronica always looks polished, age and work appropriate.

Monsters in the End - Part 3 of 3 - All the rest

I just want to know: how does Alison get that perfect loose curl, wavy hair?? Attention ABC Family programming, your next "how-to" commercial segment needs to be this. Thanks.

The gray-on-gray doesn't really do much for Caleb. He should just start wearing no shirt around. It would totally be believable because he's homeless...

The army green utility jacket looks great and with that perfectly tousled hair. YUM.

Ezra is testing out his 'Ian face'.

A vest would have looked great on top of this plaid shirt and solid tie (just a note for next time).

Green. again. This color keeps popping up on everyone! I like it.

Can I just ask: who wears a long-sleeve shirt under a button down? The fact that this shirt has clearly been borrowed from a lumberjack or the Brawny man is besides the point. The long-sleeve undershirt peeking out from the rolled up cuffs is strange, no?

I really like this jacket and especially the color. If Jenna can invest in a new pair of sunglasses soon, her style rank may start to improve.

Scarf? Cute. Jacket? Cute. Hair, make-up, and accessories? Very cute. Great job, Mona. You don't look over done-up or too trendy for once!

Another score! The casualness of the hat and sweater paired with the embellished top and chain earrings are a perfect match.

Paige defintely has worn worse things. So I'll give it a 'meh.'

I'm a sucker for anything shearling, so the jacket is acceptable. I'm especially intrigued by her top underneath (I wish we could have seen it!): it's plaid with some type of studs...

Is it just me or does Toby get cuter and cuter each week? I do love a man who can get his hands dirty...

Toby's "concerned-for-Spencer" and "come-hither" face all in one. Presh.

Mini Recap: Monsters in the End

So many clues, so little time! The PLLs find a key which leads them to a USB drive. But in the background, Garrett the Policeman a.k.a Stalky McStalkerson has got his eyes on Spencer then on Ezria...and you know what that means.

Drama-rama du jour
The photo at left sums up this episode: creepy.

Best Outfit
Hanna's school outift: striped blouse, black blazer, and tight black skirt. Sophisticated but HOT.

Best "A" Message
"Poor Em, you definitely have a type: love me or lie for me!"

Current "A" suspect
Jenna AND Ian are both still pretty darn suspicious.

Your PLL editor, Kate (me!), has your full recap on Thursday!
