It’s only been two episodes since Danny’s left, but the MP writers waste no time moving Mindy’s life along. Whitney (Jeremy’s cokehead cheater ex-girlfriend) agrees to help Mindy with her finances with one catch: just be her friend. Ookay. It gets more confusing. Jody (the misogynistic Southern doctor who is Jeremy’s BeckyWithTheGoodHair) is suddenly falling in love with Mindy. And to top it off, Mindy has over 10 outfit changes and none of them are really that great. I’m sorry, Mindy Project writers: but even that super cute SYTYCD pun in your episode title can’t save the contrived plotlines or outfits in this episode.

When the ceiling collapses in the middle of a company meeting, they discover that Jeremy’s ex, Whitney, has opened a hedge fund office upstairs. Because, of course, New York City (which has over 6,000 skyscrapers) is such a small world. I do happen to love Mindy’s work look, especially when she wears huge glasses and extravagant earrings:

Also, is it just me, or does Jody look like he’s wearing an intentionally ombre shirt+tie combo?

I love the touch of the plaid skirt:

We get a better look at her outfit when she’s at her desk. Notice: her hair is perfect, despite being doused by broken water pipes. #TVmagic

This sleeveless top over blouse outfit feels pretty typical “Mindy.” Cute, but come on: make me squeal into a pillow, costume department!

Apparently Mindy is so terrible with her finances that she’s writing to-do lists on her undeposited paychecks. So, real question: how can she afford all her beautiful Chanel bags if she’s not depositing her checks?

Mindy decides to read up on Suze Orman’s finance tactics to get money-savvy. I do have to say: at least I’m NEVER disappointed by her pajama game.

Overwhelmed, Mindy goes to Whitney to ask for financial help in another sleeveless jumper over blouse outfit. I love the pink and turquoise combo, especially the texture on the turquoise dress.

Since Whitney has no friends and nothing to do post-cocaine-addiction, she asks Mindy to spend time with her.

It’s obvious Mindy isn’t dying to spend time with Whitney. Because if she were, she’d probably be dressing better than this:

Or especially, this:

Whitney, take the hint.

But alas, Mindy spends every day the entire week with her (anyone else wondering where baby Leo is?).

Mindy is tired. I feel you, Mindy. I’m tired of that damn houndstooth you keep wearing.

Mindy decides to call it quits with Whitney in this ehh lounge outfit. I’m digging the color of the sweater though.

But after canceling on her for one day, she’s afraid Whitney’s gone back to drugs. Fortunately, Whitney is just avoiding her coworkers and everything is good.

Except this silky blue pajama top.

What is with wearing pajama-like clothing as real clothes? Is it, like, monogrammed?

After sharing bear claws, it looks like Whitney’s going to be around as Mindy’s friend. What do you think of Jody and Mindy? Do you miss Danny? More importantly, will there ever be an episode that does not revolve around Mindy’s love life?
