This week on New Girl, Cece “tries” to pack up her apartment in order to move in with Schmidt, Jess is in over her head with work, and Winston requests a new partner at work because of his feelings for Ally.
Jess shows up at Cece’s apartment only to realize that Cece has gotten nothing done, and that she’s panicking about starting a new life.
Jess looks amazing — as always — and the button detailing on the sleeves is a very trendy and discrete touch to her beautiful dress. Cede looks like she is clearly in distress, with sweats and messy hair, which is very unlike her usual put-togetherness!
The lovely thing about this episode is that packing up Cece’s things leads to some throwbacks, in which we get to see some not so fortunate Jess early days outfits…
Who knew bangs could be this short?? And this dress… I’m all for the floral and patterned outfits, but this is a big no. A little too “prairie girl meets hippie on tour bus” for LA, but I will give her points for the belt. She already knew had to accessorize, even back in the day!
Then we see very typical early Cece — tight black tank top, perfectly straight hair, and lots of eyeliner. Oh the eyeliner days! And I’m not talking about winged eyeliner but “pile it on” crayon eyeliner. Jess owns a very unique dress I wouldn’t expect her to wear, but red is truly her color.
Finally, we get the cutest shot of them all. Chokers, overalls, and sassiness — here comes the 90s. They both need to wear these outfits all the time, and Cece should think about that bob again. Bring everything back!!!! I’m obsessed!!!!
Apart from this packing dilemma, our second problem lies in Jess’s job and her very demanding boss. Becky, or Principal Cavatappi, is a queen of the outfits but not of her job. Jess has to do all her work, and her deadlines are driving her insane.
This lady is fabulous.
Where has she been all this time???
Jess notes her boobs are a distraction, but I’ve been more focused on her minimalistic jewelry, perfect hair and fixed “Stepford Wives” sort of smile to notice that her shirts may not be appropriate for middle school.
Meanwhile, in another part of town, Nick gets flashed in the bar. While he deems this to be a normal thing, Schmidt panics and calls Winston, who shows up with his very incompetent new partner.
All the problems and slight incompetencies you thought Winston had can be matched by his night-blind, directionless, non-driving partner. We have found the worst match in the world!! Who could have guessed it would be possible.
Unfortunately for Winston, his partnership doesn’t work out due to their inability to arrest the flasher, and he is confronted by Ally about why he left her. The moment almost turns romantic, but instead they decide to start working together again. YAY! I see Ally leaving her boyfriend for Winston soon. In my dreams.
Jess finally stands up to Becky after doing a week’s worth of work in one night, and she quits! AH! Jessica Day dares to leave her position! Who would have thought she would be capable of doing this?
Bonus points go to the fact that she looked professional and confident, while maintaining a very casual outfit for Jess — no buttons, florals, or lace!
Despite her panic, Cece is finally ready to move out, and leaves in style followed by three guys carrying her boxes. What a queen. Blue has always been a great color on her, and the booties brings a more boho vibe to her outfit. That and being followed by Schmidt in a fitted black tee. What a good-looking couple!
What Winston Wore
This week, we got one very Winston-like outfit — the Hawaiian-inspired shirts are back!!! I am a huge fan of these on him, and they always makes him stand out next to Nick’s plaid and Schmidt’s more professional attire.
Short sleeved, pink, and with palm trees. He’s always knocking it out of the park.
And last but not least, we are graced with the polar opposites in the bar — Schmidt’s very posh outfit which includes a cardigan, and Winston taking it easy and looking cool and laid back with his LAPD hoodie. It’s even better to see that he’s an actual cop wearing that, not a tourist who bought this sweatshirt as a souvenir. 10 badass points for you!
Hoping to see some more patterned shirts next week, I’ve been missing them dearly!
