While Char entertained her elderly friends at her weekly bridge tournament, Emma’s other BFF Mads was taking some fashion risks. Like these S&M straps layered on top of a perfectly sweet cami:
Oh, and shoulder-sweeper earrings. Actually, what’s it called when they sweep all the way down to your collarbones? Like, those earrings are practically a vest at this point.
She also matches Char’s practical school outfit by wearing this cocktail gown for her afternoon Calc quiz:
The red bag is a bit matchy-matchy, and I’d take off one of her 10 necklaces, but this is a pretty cute look. You know, for going out to the club. When you’re 16, I guess school is the only place you can really wear your gowns.
In the first instance of a character on this show actually doing school work, we got this scene of Mads working on an essay while wearing a belt buckle the size of her face:
And are those… jeans? Has any female character ever worn jeans (let alone pants?) on this show ever before?
Laurel certainly hasn’t been caught in anything other than adorable shorts and/or sundresses, and this week was no exception. She started out in this cute floral number (accessorized like a normal person, with one necklace):
She also has the best facial expressions of anyone on this show. I kind of want her to be my sassy little sister. Which is part of why I want to beat up Justin on her behalf, because that kid is up to nothing good. Stay strong, Laurel!
Laurel’s real sister, Emma (or, I guess Emma isn’t really her sister, Sutton is… oy, this show) follows up her open-shoulder tie-dyed boho look from earlier with another carefree style.
The turquoise jewellery and green belt work perfectly with this look, as does her casual front braid.
Almost like, now that Sutton’s (maybe?) gone, Emma can relax her style and not try so hard all the time.
Her tennis outfit (which she spent most of the episode in) was also really cute. The stripes on the tank broke up the simple design, and her flirty tennis skirt makes me wish I knew how to play tennis:
That being said… are pearl studs really the best sort of earrings to wear when playing tennis? I’m no expert, but it seems like a ball to the side of the head might lead to some damage to a) the earring and b) your neck.
But THEN!! This show veers into Pretty Little Liars territory when Emma, Ethan and Thayer stumble across this ominous message:
All this needs is a mysterious “S” signature at the end, and we’re fully in Rosewood all over again. Look out, you guys! Somebody’s got Sutton (or Sutton’s pretending somebody’s got her) and Rebecca is somebody’s real mother, and I’m so glad this show is back on!
