This week in the Girl Crush Screening Room, New Girl continues to prove it’s more than just a vehicle for my pretend BFF Zooey’s “adorkable” self by delivering one of the best episodes yet. It also featured quite a few super-cute outfits on Jess, so let’s get to it!

This week’s episode:
New Girl – “Bells”

I love that the show has started to focus just as much on Jess’s three dude roommates as it does on her, but she still wins when it comes to wardrobe. We first saw her in this bright red dress.

I love how often she wears bright colors. I’d be worried that a red dress with green shoes would scream “I work for Santa!” but here it totally works. If only Jess’s keen fashion sense would rub off a little on these troubled teens. Plaid? Goth? Please.

Later we saw Jess go casual in this cute T-shirt and skirt combo.

My favorite part? The bicycle embroidered on the skirt’s pocket. But I think this next outfit was my favorite look from the whole episode:

A romper! God, I wish I could pull off a romper. This seems a tad revealing for mentoring teens, but hey – they’re already over at her apartment so Jess has clearly already thrown caution to the wind.

Here she looks amazing, even though their apartment was robbed by giants or something. Look at this girl mix patterns! And as previous YKYLF writers have noted, she has the most thick, wavy hair. To say I’m jealous would be the biggest understatement I could make.

The guys are fun to watch too, because they each have their own styles.

Schmidt is almost always dressed to impress, Nick perpetually looks like a snob (in a cute, endearing way), and Winston (unemployed as he may be) seems to have found a happy medium.

His temp job might kinda suck (OK, it really sucks – no one enjoys stuffing envelopes for a living) but at least he looks good doing it.

Of course, that was before he joined “Ensembell”, Jess’s hand bell group for troubled teens. It turned out, Winston was a pro at, well, ringing bells. After that, things got a little crazy.

Can you blame them for firing him? I mean, what is that hat? Oh, and there’s the fact that he was composing “Eye of the Tiger” for a hand bell group while on the job. Awesome, yes – but not bankable hours.

Guys, do we know what Schmidt does for a living? Because even if he’s a bit of a douche sometimes, I like how he dresses. Check out this tie.

And you know what? I was with him in his argument with Nick. I’d want my toilet to be fancy-fixed as well. Of course, that fight led to a pretty epic roomie war. Schmidt took back everything he bought, and Nick re-broke everything he’d fixed. It culminated in the two of them fighting over some very expensive conditioner.

That’s what happens when a dude steals another dude’s conditioner, folks.

In the end, all the guys showed up to support Jess and the rest of the “Ensembell” group at their hand bell concert. Nick was in a hoodie (what else?), Winston in a nice green shirt, and Schmidt wore one of his classic cardis. Y’know what Nick? I like a guy in a cardigan! I was all kinds of Team Schmidt this week, wasn’t I?

So what did you guys think? Were you Team DIY or Team Pay For It? Which outfit of Jess’s did you like the best?
